Today, rain or shine: Northside's Art in the Park
Hello! I have spent the past three days in a friendly but panicked print shop, slicing, gluing and stamping as I waited for my prints to emerge in small batches from moody new Canon printers. Tomorrow, for the first time, I'll sell greeting cards that feature my work, along with some small original oils, and matted prints.. The "Peccora di Colle" pictured here is from a set of four "Italy" paintings I pulled together. This little fellow/lady was only of the only subjects I've ever painted from a quick sketch. Many years ago I set out to paint animals of the Tuscan country side, and found them maddeningly unwilling. This sheep alone treated me to his/her inscrutable ovine stare, long enough to let me take a sketch away.
Tomorrow's fair (Saturday, June 18) is an all-day, rain-or-shine affair from 11am-7pm, at Jacob Hoffner Park in Northside, at the corner of Hamilton Ave and Blue Rock.
This one does sound particularly fun. The organizers gave me this to plagiarize:
"Please join me and over 60 fine artists, a puppet performance from Wump Mucket Puppets, Hoola Hooping demonstrations from Dizzy Bee Entertainment, Native Flute Songs performed throughout the day by Janice Sunflower of SunflowerTones and food trucks such as New Orleans to Go and Habanero Latin Fair coming all day!"
Please come and say hello, whether or not we've already met!
